Amblyopia

Amblyopia is defined as a healthy eye that is unable to see normally even with the best correction. It can involve one or both eyes. Initial treatment is typically glasses and time. Traditionally when glasses did not fully correct the vision, patching or Atropine eye drops were used to treat the amblyopia. Now, there are several new binocular vision therapies that allow a more fun and interactive alternative!

Luminopia uses a Virtual Reality headset that is FDA approved in 4 to 7 year olds to treat amblyopia. The child is now able to improve their vision while watching an hour of cartoons a day. Click here to learn more.

Curesight uses a computer device and special glasses where a child can watch parent-controlled internet videos or movies for an hour a day. It is cleared by the FDA to treat amblyopia and improve stereopsis in 4 to 9 year olds.  Click here to learn more.
