Amblyopia
Amblyopia is defined by a healthy eye that is unable to see normally even with the best correction. It can involve one or both eyes. Initial treatment is typically glasses and time. Traditionally when glasses did not fully correct, patching or Atropine eye drops were used to treat the amblyopia. Now, there are several new binocular vision therapies that allow a fun alternative!
Luminopia uses a Virtual Reality headset that is FDA approved to treat amblyopia. The child is now able to improve their vision while watching an hour of cartoons a day. Click here to learn more.
Curesight uses a computer device and special glasses where a child can watch parent-controlled internet videos or movies for an hour a day. Click here to learn more.
RevitalVision is another tool that can improve vision in older patients that have failed patching or with Nystagmus. Click here to learn more.
